Mississippi Representatives Introduce Bill That Would Make It Illegal To Serve Obese In Restaurants…

Three Representatives in the Mississippi Legislature have introduced a bill that would make it illegal to serve the obese. In a bizarre move, Mississippi Rep’s Mayhall, Read and Shows introduced this gem during the regular session of 2008 and the intent is nothing short of frightening.

Specifically, the bill seeks to make it a violation of the state’s statutes to serve anyone who is obese in an eating establishment that is required to obtain a permit from the Department of Health (DOH). In the language set forth in the bill, it would be the responsibility of the eating establishment to use the criteria set forth by the DOH to determine who should and should not be served.

It’s not even worth the effort to try to make sense of this–it’s DOA.
