Dr. David Hunnicutt is the President of The Wellness Councils of America. With its national headquarters located in Omaha, NE, WELCOA is dedicated to helping American business create a healthier and more productive workforce. By helping companies of all sizes improve employee health, contain healthcare costs, and increase productivity, WELCOA has established itself as one of the premier worksite wellness organizations in the U.S.
As President of WELCOA, Dr. Hunnicutt is responsible for establishing the organization's strategic direction as well articulating WELCOA's vision to a national corporate audience. Grounded by that belief good health is good business, David has the privilege of working closely with WELCOA's Board of Directors and Staff to advance a national health and wellness movement that now involves over 3,400 WELCOA member corporations.
Fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time, David and his WELCOA teammates have partnered with some of the nation's brightest minds and most talented professionals to develop an infrastructure that moves millions of worksite wellness publications and provides annual trainings for thousands of business and health leaders.
To further advance WELCOA's mission, David has had the unique opportunity of working with some of the most progressive companies in America. By focusing their energies, David has helped a number of companies build best-in-class wellness programs.
Since 1995, David has keynoted more than 300 national events for such audiences as:

Dr. Hunnicutt has written, edited, and produced more than a dozen books, including a best-selling medical self-care book that has sold more than 500,000 copies. David also serves as WELCOA's Executive Editor of Absolute Advantage, a national corporate wellness magazine and The Well Workplace, an award-winning employee health newsletter that is now in its tenth year of publication. Under David's direction, WELCOA publications have received numerous prestigious awards from the National Health Information Resource Center which recognizes the best consumer and corporate health information in the U.S.
In 2004 and 2005, David, along with a select group of national leaders, served as consultants to Tommy Thompson, former Secretary of Health and Human Services and the National Conference of Governors chaired by the Honorable Mike Huckabee, Governor of Arkansas.
Dr. Hunnicutt's opinions, expertise, and work have appeared in such media as MSN, CBS News, CBS MarketWatch, Businessweek, CIO Magazine, Business and Health, American Medical News, Workforce Magazine and numerous local and national newspapers.
David Hunnicutt grew up in northern Minnesota and graduated from Concordia College. He went on to receive an MS from North Dakota State University and a PhD from the University of New Mexico.
